Anyone know how local rankings work?

Cause I have to say, I'm pretty thoroughly confused. I've been working on getting my Ruby local ranking back up after i stopped playing for a while. Went from rank 1 all the way down to rank 18

After a week or so, I'm back up to rank 4-5 now, so i've been keeping tabs on the players ahead/around me. However, rank 3 baffles me. Only has about 150 matches with Ruby (and about 50% win rate), yet is still a couple hundred points ahead of me. And looking, they haven't even been playing Ruby much lately. Me on the otherhand, I got 54-55% win rate and 800 games (and for my local rankings, I have nearly double the closest within the top 10 rankings in terms of games played). So basically, how in the world are the rankings set?! I don't mind being lower ranked than them, but I just don't understand it at all. My win rate is higher and i have nearly double the matches, so I'm a bit lost

Hero points increase through rank game, more rank game even though win or loose your rank points increases but ofcourse win adds more points than loose.

Yea, that part I understand just fine. But it's not like of my 800 games, 500 of them are classic or something. At least 80% is ranked. For the most part, that guy in 3rd with only about 150 matches is what is mostly catching me off guard. With a 50% win rate, I don't understand how you raise up that quickly.

I got confused, 800 games and 500 of them are classic? then atleast 80% is ranked? 80% of 800 is 640 hmmmm??? maybe that guy uses the hero always what I mean always is that all 150 matches straight for that hero maybe?

Sorry to confuse. I'm saying it's NOT like 500 of MY games with Ruby were in classic (purely using 500 as an example). I have a little over 800 games with Ruby myself. I'm saying at least 80% is ranked games (so as you said, 640). I have a 55% win rate (meaning 352 wins if we use 640).

I'm saying I don't understand how my current local rank 3, who only has 150 matches TOTAL with Ruby and about a 50% win rate (so 75 wins at most), can possibly be ranked so high. Hopefully that helped clarify.

You just have to use a lot of the hero in every season in rank basically

For every season reset, the MMR will automatically drop (not sure exactly how much but it seems to be at least 1500 for my case). Now, at every tier, MMR will rise less and less and drop more and more when you win and lose the higher you are up the tier.

Thanks the information! I'm not aware that there is a drop of MMR every season reset. You mean that it is better to push top global in lower tier? Which tier got a high MMR points in every win in rank? maybe we could calculate it.

@CloudDevelic Thanks! That was very helpful. I didn't know about the guide having all the detailed stats. I got 760 ranked games with Ruby (so more than 80%). Good to know. And didn't realize it was harder to rank up the higher your tier. I thought it might have been the opposite since the top rank is so far ahead and mythic. Didn't realize seasons reset it as well (that would explain my harsh drop from 1 to 18).
