Ya right, at least this would be better, love him like a brother, so the story will not twisted that far. Just like how we thought Vale and Valir were brothers for 6-8 months, turns out they're not actually brothers, they're just closed friends like brothers.
I think the better option is, just remained Lancelot-Odette as lovers, but make Guinevere as Lancelot's ex. Or maybe Lancelot cheated on Guinevere and met Odette. So they can create a new story saying that Odette and Guinevere were a rival, and Guinevere learn magic to defeat Odette blablabla... something like that.
