Why do you want to be a mod? It might be harder than you think, its hard to stay active and respond to every post and provide help it requires good English and literature skills to be clear and precise in your reply and a memory of forum rules.This is just an overview there are probably things I missed out but I hope It can help you reevaluate decision since your new to the forum.

Being a Moderator is not just wanting to do it, it's a matter of having big responsibilities. However, the recruitment for the Forum Moderator position is already finished.
