How to Counter X-Borg

I got some request from forum users about how to counter xborg.
I will make this guide short and simple.

I an currently in mythic 5 and  played 220 matches with xborg and have 84% win rate. also reached global this season with xborg.
So i will share my experience on how to counter xborg.


Xborg's biggest weakness is magic damage. Because his armor is physical based. So it will go down fast with magic damage.
Any mage with burst damage can reduce his armor to 0 and force him to go in armorless state.

Xborg is weak in armorless state. Even though his basic attack becomes ranged attack and his 1st and 2nd skill will have bigger range. But he will not attack aggressively in armorless state because of vulnerability.

Now i will tell you about those heroes i have faced was hard to play against.

1. Granger
Granger is very strong against xborg because of his first skill, dash and ultimate.
Granger can easily reduce xborg armor to 0 and force him to play in armorless state.
some basic tips how to engage xborg with granger is,
Use ultimate from long range to reduce his armor to 0. Then use dash and come close to him. And use first skill to finish him off.
I died many times like this against granger.

2. Kimmy.
Kimmy is also strong against xborg because of first skill and ultimate same as granger.
Plus kimmy 1st skill is based on magic damage. So it eats the armor very easily and very fast.

3. Lance, Haya, Gusion
All have high mobility and dash with insane burst damage. And xborg is weak against them.
I cant remember when i won agianst hayabusa. Haya can use shadow can reduce his armor very fast. Even if you by mistake use your ultimate agianst haya, which haya can easily escape. He will use his ultimate later to finish you. Same goes for lance and gusion too. They both are pretty much strong against xborg.

4. karrie, Terizla
Karrie has true damage. and terizla has high damage output with insane durability. So he can easily outperform xborg with or without his ultimate.
In fact, if you choose between xborg and terizla to face. I would chose xborg instead of terizla.

5. Esmarelda, harith, Harley, Lylia, Lunox
They all are strong against xborg because of insane amount of magic and burst damage.
Now why harley?
harley has a special tricks against xborg.
When you use your ultimate against xborg, you will use your first skill to do more damage. and your team mates too.
It is true he will not get cc by your team and can escape. But harley ultimate is special.
He will get the full damage when he will be in armorless state. And that can be very fatal. I died couple of times because of this.
I thought i could easily escape from harley but i forgot harley ultimate has time duration.
So it burst when you are in armorless state. So you will take huge damage. And if the damage is more than half of your hp, you will die.

6. Nana, Diggie
Nana is very special and counter almost all hero. But she is rare picked hero. same goes for diggie too. Because of diggie egg, xborg getting continious damage so it will be hard to maintain his armor.

These are the heroes i have hard time against.
You can find your counter hero on your own too.

Now i will share some tips on how to counter with any hero.

Avoid his ultimate at all cost.
He does not have hard cc. So it is easy to avoid his ultimate.
But some xborg use 2nd skill to pull you back to his tulaimte for the burst damage, be careful of that.
Do not give him chance to get battery.
Do not try to cc himwhen he using ultimate, it will be useless.
You will see i did not mention any hero that has hard cc. Because cc cant counter xborg. At least maximum time can not.
When he using utlimate, wait for the blast. And then attack him.


These are my tips on how to counter xborg.

i respect your personal opinion, but if you look forum suggestion and request for last 3-4 weeks, they all asked for xborg nerf. and xborg is one of the most banned hero till now. no cc works on him. he has double immunity against cc amd true damage. if he is so easy to counter then he won't be banned in rank. hehehhehe.

I agree with nana being xborg counter.. ive tried this a few times when enemy pick xborg in rank.. but seriously, as usual, if we dont know each other (which is happen when you arent on full 5 team), nana is more like a troll pick.. and the risk for other heroes you mention up there is still dependent on how good the user.. will be even worse of a condition if the xborg isnt alone...
Not to mention in armor state, his skill 1 can replenish armor when you buy axe right? And he can retreat safely in armorless state if you buy endless (or haas).. hiss armorless state skill 1 can trigger lifesteal from endless afterall..

Terizla is one of the most underrated good against so many.
I kind of knew granger is a counter to many strong heroes but I'm not good with skill shots unless they are right in front of me haha.  If you think about it he's the most op hero: long range, high mobility, high damage, no mana! but I personally don't complain about him because he's not as auto pilot as the others.

I've just bought Karrie, now I have more reason to practice her

Kimmy’s ultimate isn’t exactly the same as Granger’s ultimate. I don’t think Kimmy would be good against Xborg. I personally believe it is still kind of player-based. Kimmy’s main damage comes from her basic attack. I would disagree if you use Mage Kimmy. I agree as well X-borg doesn’t really have a counter.

Sadly I must know everything about the heroes before I can counter them, and I don't have xborg for that matter

It is impossible to win against xborg on equal terms.
If X-Borg's farm is good, he can kill any hero.

- When he opens the ultimate, he becomes untouchable.
- After his ulti, he uses "auto flicker" and jump back to escape from fight.
- He is like a marksman when he has no ult. (range attack)
- His health regen very fast.
- His first skill can damage from far.

X-borg has no weaknesses and no counters. If you really know to play him.
Note: You can kill Granger with 1 Ult. So stop being optimistic.

so you guys think i wrote this guide and no use?
i played 220 matches with xborg and i don't know his counter?
along with 62 matches already in this season in rank.

you guys are so pro that you already know he has no counter and he is invincible. i shared my stats about xborg. why don't you show yours, lets compare.

from my last 2 years of moderation, i never expected this from forum users. i always tried to be supportive and helpful to other users. but i think its time  to change. thanks for opening my eyes. cheers.

You guys just forgot about the ultimate counter of all things, Franco. I do admit Xborg is easier to deal with now, every hero have a chance to outplayed him, but i've seen quite sometimes Franco players use ultimate on Xborg, and it will stops him no matter on what state he is in. Even if Xborg is in ultimate state, Franco can just use ultimate to stops him from moving and dealing damage.

I have a mixed feeling to that, i'm happy that theres a real counter to Xborg and i'm worried that Franco is indeed unstopabble.
