Oh yeah? Gatot already has 200 points of Def from Passive and he only needs 1000hp lost to get it. So 2 Def Items is enough for him and rest is Magic Items. Also, don't you say he's not going to soak damage now, he is LITERALLY a WALKING VENGEANCE now! One small mistake will cost you your damage dealt!
but at base he is still a tank, he may be op as you say but he will needs items to deal damage, there is no way that he can beat a hyper-carry materiel hero or a mid laner in farm to snow ball opponents to win with overwhelming dominance, in short you will have hard time in game, and even if you pull it off that does not means all can or all will as we all have unique way of playing every hero hero so as general gato and john will be still be more effective as a tnk build in my opinion
then who will tank the damage from enemy. There is no magic defense in existing magic items. Now they are vulnerable to mages if you build them with magic items.
Johnson's passive shield depends upon physical defense. They should have changed it to magic power so mage Johnson gets more shield.
I remember Gatot giving 4000+ damage without any magic item but only with tank emblem skill. They really want tanks to be killers

Not OP. We have to decide between tanky build or damage build. Tanky build means no damage and damage build means not tanky.
What makes them OP is the new tank emblem (125 + 7% max HP of magic damage - CD is 15s). If you build them tanky, their basic attack will deal heavy damage.
If tank HP is 10000, then it will deal (125 + 700 = 825) magic damage in one basic attack.
For some reason, I recieved 3200 magic damage from Gatot in one basic attack. Maybe it is increased by his passive or first skill combo.
