Every competitive game has it's swings and META, but to be quite honest Mobile Legends for a mobile game is actually one of the most fair and balanced app PvP games on the market.
Sure, there are progression systems that you can unlock faster with paying money for, but mostly the game is free. Most revenue I'd wager is through skins and cosmetics.
Tanks in my opinion are not there for damage dealing, they're there to soak damage. Tig is literally the opposite of damage dealer. He couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag.
You'll need dominance ice as a core item for slower att speed and self heal reduction, Bladed Armour for the higher base phys def and reflect damage back at the basic attacker and perhaps antique cuirass if their team is 4 physical 1 mage.
You will also need the support of your team as tanks can't do a whole lot on their own.
